The OLIVE tree

1 Chronicles 27:28

King James Version

28 And over the olive trees

and the sycomore trees that were in the low plains

was Baalhanan* the Gederite:

and over the cellars of oil was Joash:

What does the Bible say about the "olive" tree?

It seems there's quite a lot of info on it.

Practical, precious, and prophetic stuff, mind you.

We shall see how important it is to GOD, and Israel.

Truly a "witness" to the times, commands, and personalities.

So, let's have a look where SPIRIT, and Scripture, take us.

Olive trees were used by king Solomon for the "house of the LORD".

1 Kings 6:2

King James Version

2 And the house

which king Solomon built for the Lord,

the length thereof was threescore cubits,

and the breadth thereof twenty cubits,

and the height thereof thirty cubits.

1 Kings 6:23

King James Version

23 And within the oracle

he made two cherubims of olive tree,

each ten cubits high.

1 Kings 6:31-33

King James Version

31 And for the entering of the oracle

he made doors of olive tree:

the lintel and side posts were a fifth part of the wall.

32 The two doors also were of olive tree;

and he carved upon them carvings

of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers,

and overlaid them with gold,

and spread gold upon the cherubims,

and upon the palm trees.

33 So also made he for the door

of the temple posts of olive tree,

 a fourth part of the wall.

GOD's command, through Moses.

Deuteronomy 28:40

King James Version

40 Thou shalt have olive trees

throughout all thy coasts,

but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil;

 for thine olive shall cast his fruit.

Use of olive oil.

Exodus 27:20

King James Version

20 And thou shalt command the children of Israel,

that they bring thee pure oil olive

beaten for the light,

to cause the lamp to burn always.

The dove, and olive leaf, in Noah's time.

Genesis 8:8-12

King James Version

8 Also he sent forth a dove from him,

to see if the waters were abated

from off the face of the ground;

9 But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot,

and she returned unto him into the ark,

for the waters were on the face of the whole earth:

then he put forth his hand, and took her,

and pulled her in unto him into the ark.

10 And he stayed yet other seven days;

and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark;

11 And the dove came in to him in the evening;

and, lo, in her mouth

was an olive leaf pluckt off:

so Noah knew that the waters

were abated from off the earth.

12 And he stayed yet other seven days;

and sent forth the dove;

which returned not again

unto him any more.

GOD's love for Israel, and the beauty of the olive tree.

Hosea 14:4-6

King James Version

4 I will heal their backsliding,

I will love them freely:

for mine anger is turned away from him.

5 I will be as the dew unto Israel:

he shall grow as the lily,

and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.

6 His branches shall spread,

and his beauty shall be as the olive tree,

and his smell as Lebanon.

The future of the earth.

Isaiah 24:10-13

King James Version

10 The city of confusion is broken down:

every house is shut up, that no man may come in.

11 There is a crying for wine in the streets;

all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.

12 In the city is left desolation,

and the gate is smitten with destruction.

13 When thus it shall be

in the midst of the land among the people,

there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree,

and as the gleaning grapes

when the vintage is done.

GOD's anger at Israel, and Judah, as told to prophet Jeremiah.

Jeremiah 11:15-18

King James Version

15 What hath my beloved to do in mine house,

seeing she hath wrought lewdness with many,

and the holy flesh is passed from thee?

when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.

16 The Lord called thy name,

A green olive tree,

fair, and of goodly fruit:

with the noise of a great tumult

he hath kindled fire upon it,

and the branches of it are broken.

17 For the Lord of hosts, that planted thee,

hath pronounced evil against thee,

for the evil of the house of Israel

and of the house of Judah,

which they have done against themselves

to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal.

18 And the Lord hath given me knowledge of it,

and I know it: then thou shewedst me their doings.

An invitation to reign.

Judges 9:7-9

King James Version

7 And when they told it to Jotham

he went and stood in the top of mount Gerizim,

and lifted up his voice, and cried,

and said unto them,

Hearken unto me, ye men of Shechem,

that God may hearken unto you.

8 The trees went forth on a time

to anoint a king over them;

and they said unto the olive tree,

Reign thou over us.

9 But the olive tree said unto them,

Should I leave my fatness,

wherewith by me they honour God and man,

and go to be promoted over the trees?

Children as "olive plants".

Psalm 128:1-3

King James Version

128 Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord

that walketh in his ways.

2 For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands:

happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.

3 Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine

by the sides of thine house:

thy children like olive plants

round about thy table.

Being like a "green olive tree".

Psalm 52:8

King James Version

8 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God:

I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.

The two witnesses as two "olive trees".

Revelation 11:3-4

King James Version

3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses,

and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred

and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

4 These are the two olive trees,

and the two candlesticks

standing before the God of the earth.

The Gentile as a "wild olive tree".

Romans 11:16-19

King James Version

16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy:

and if the root be holy, so are the branches.

17 And if some of the branches be broken off,

and thou, being a wild olive tree,

wert grafted in among them,

and with them partakest

of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

18 Boast not against the branches.

But if thou boast,

thou bearest not the root,

but the root thee.

19 Thou wilt say then,

The branches were broken off,

that I might be grafted in.

The two olive trees as the two "anointed" ones.

Zechariah 4:11-14

King James Version

11 Then answered I, and said unto him,

What are these two olive trees

upon the right side of the candlestick

and upon the left side thereof?

12 And I answered again, and said unto him,

What be these two olive branches

which through the two golden pipes

empty the golden oil out of themselves?

13 And he answered me and said,

Knowest thou not what these be?

And I said, No, my lord.

14 Then said he,

These are the two anointed ones,

that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.

The two olive trees upon two "sides of the bowl".

Zechariah 4:1-4

King James Version

4 And the angel that talked with me

came again, and waked me,

as a man that is wakened out of his sleep.

2 And said unto me, What seest thou?

And I said, I have looked,

and behold a candlestick all of gold,

with a bowl upon the top of it,

and his seven lamps thereon,

and seven pipes to the seven lamps,

which are upon the top thereof:

3 And two olive trees by it,

one upon the right side of the bowl,

and the other upon the left side thereof.

4 So I answered and spake to the angel

that talked with me, saying,

What are these, my lord?

*From the TOPMOST verse --

Who is Baalhanan?

Why does he matter?

Note his "heritage":

Genesis 36:1-3

King James Version

36 Now these are the generations of Esau

who is Edom.

2 Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan

Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite,

and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah

the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite;

3 And Bashemath Ishmael's daughter,

sister of Nebajoth.

Genesis 36:4-5

King James Version

4 And Adah bare to Esau Eliphaz;

and Bashemath bare Reuel;

5 And Aholibamah bare Jeush,

and Jaalam, and Korah:

these are the sons of Esau,

which were born unto him

in the land of Canaan.

Genesis 36:6-9

King James Version

6 And Esau took his wives, and his sons,

and his daughters, and all the persons of his house,

and his cattle, and all his beasts,

and all his substance,

which he had got in the land of Canaan;

and went into the country

from the face of his brother Jacob.

7 For their riches were more

than that they might dwell together;

and the land wherein they were strangers

could not bear them because of their cattle.

8 Thus dwelt Esau in mount Seir:

Esau is Edom.

9 And these are the generations of Esau

the father of the Edomites in mount Seir:

Genesis 36:10

King James Version

10 These are the names of Esau's sons;

Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau,

Reuel the son of Bashemath the wife of Esau.

Genesis 36:37-39

King James Version

37 And Samlah died,

and Saul of Rehoboth by the river

reigned in his stead.

38 And Saul died,

and Baalhanan the son of Achbor

reigned in his stead.

39 And Baalhanan the son of Achbor died,

 and Hadar reigned in his stead:

and the name of his city was Pau;

and his wife's name was Mehetabel,

the daughter of Matred,

the daughter of Mezahab.

We shall look into these sets of verses for another post, in another blog.

For we discovered many important things here, regarding Israel, and those sworn to destroy her.

Yes, even -- and ESPECIALLY -- in these times.

The FORBIDDEN tree

Genesis 2:15-17

King James Version

15 And the Lord God took the man,

and put him into the garden of Eden

to dress it and to keep it.

16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying,

Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,

thou shalt not eat of it:

for in the day that thou eatest thereof

thou shalt surely die.

GOD's instructions were clear:

"But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,

thou shalt not eat of it: "

He warned of the consequences:

"for in the day that thou eatest thereof

thou shalt surely die."

Most of you know what happened.

But for those who don't, we shall itemize it here.

Because by now, man was not alone.

GOD made companions for him.

So he won't be lonely.

Thing is, Satan had other plans.

He knew man and woman were still innocent.

He aimed to change that.

Genesis 3:1-6

King James Version

3 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast

of the field which the Lord God had made.

And he said unto the woman,

Yea, hath God said,

Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

2 And the woman said unto the serpent,

We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

3 But of the fruit of the tree

which is in the midst of the garden,

God hath said,

Ye shall not eat of it,

neither shall ye touch it,

lest ye die.

4 And the serpent said unto the woman,

Ye shall not surely die:

5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof,

then your eyes shall be opened,

and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

6 And when the woman saw

that the tree was good for food,

and that it was pleasant to the eyes,

and a tree to be desired to make one wise,

she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat,

and gave also unto her husband with her;

and he did eat.

The uh-oh moment.

And the "reckoning".

Genesis 3:7

King James Version

7 And the eyes of them both were opened,

and they knew that they were naked;

and they sewed fig leaves together,

and made themselves aprons.

GOD came by, looking for them.

Genesis 3:8-10

King James Version

8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God

walking in the garden in the cool of the day:

and Adam and his wife hid themselves

from the presence of the Lord God

amongst the trees of the garden.

9 And the Lord God called unto Adam,

and said unto him, Where art thou?

10 And he said,

I heard thy voice in the garden,

and I was afraid, because I was naked;

and I hid myself.

And GOD roared.

Genesis 3:11

King James Version

11 And he said,

Who told thee that thou wast naked?

Hast thou eaten of the tree,

whereof I commanded thee

that thou shouldest not eat?

Man's pitiful answer.

Genesis 3:12

King James Version

12 And the man said,

The woman whom thou gavest to be with me,

she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

The consequences?

To each, his own punishment.

Genesis 3:14-15

King James Version

14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent,

Because thou hast done this,

thou art cursed above all cattle,

and above every beast of the field;

upon thy belly shalt thou go,

and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

15 And I will put enmity

between thee and the woman,

and between thy seed and her seed;

it shall bruise thy head,

and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Genesis 3:16

King James Version

16 Unto the woman he said,

I will greatly multiply

thy sorrow and thy conception;

in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children;

and thy desire shall be to thy husband,

and he shall rule over thee.

Genesis 3:17-19

King James Version

17 And unto Adam he said,

Because thou hast hearkened

unto the voice of thy wife,

and hast eaten of the tree,

of which I commanded thee, saying,

Thou shalt not eat of it:

cursed is the ground for thy sake;

in sorrow shalt thou eat of it

all the days of thy life;

18 Thorns also and thistles

shall it bring forth to thee;

and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread,

till thou return unto the ground;

for out of it wast thou taken:

for dust thou art, and unto dust

shalt thou return.

Still, GOD loved them.

Genesis 3:21

King James Version

21 Unto Adam also and to his wife

did the Lord God make coats of skins,

and clothed them.

But He had to enforce changes.

Genesis 3:22-23

King James Version

22 And the Lord God said,

Behold,

the man is become as one of us,

to know good and evil:

and now, lest he put forth his hand,

and take also of the tree of life,

and eat, and live for ever:

23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth

from the garden of Eden,

to till the ground

from whence he was taken.

As a safety measure, GOD secured the OTHER tree, which they used to partake of.

But now that sin, and death had visited them, they no longer had a right to the tree.

At least, for now.

Genesis 3:24

King James Version

24 So he drove out the man;

and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden

Cherubims, and a flaming sword

which turned every way,

to keep the way of the tree of life.

Trust was lost.

Innocence was lost.

Death, and hardship, started.

We are where we are now.

But GOD's love remained.

He still gave us other trees.

Which, of course, can't compare to the ones in Eden.

Nevertheless, the Bible talks about the other trees, too.

And that's for the next posts.

CREATION of TREES

Ecclesiastes 2:5-6

King James Version

5 I made me gardens and orchards,

and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits:

6 I made me pools of water, to water therewith

the wood that bringeth forth trees:

I was just curious.

How were trees created?

What trees existed in ancient times?

What trees were mentioned in the Bible?

What were the earliest record of "trees"?

What did Scripture say about these trees?

Here's where SPIRIT led me.

First record of trees.

Genesis 1:11-13

King James Version

11 And God said,

Let the earth bring forth grass,

the herb yielding seed,

and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind,

whose seed is in itself, upon the earth:

and it was so.

12 And the earth brought forth grass,

and herb yielding seed after his kind,

and the tree yielding fruit,

whose seed was in itself, after his kind:

and God saw that it was good.

13 And the evening and the morning

were the third day.

The two vital trees.

Genesis 2:8-9

King James Version

8 And the Lord God planted

a garden eastward in Eden;

and there he put the man whom he had formed.

9 And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow

every tree that is pleasant to the sight,

and good for food;

the tree of life also in the midst of the garden,

and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

The "instructions".

Did man follow GOD's instructions?

We shall find out on the next page.

TREES of the BIBLE

Acts 4:20

King James Version

20 For we cannot but speak the things

which we have seen and heard.

I can't help but think, that trees are "witnesses".

What do they hear, when people take shelter under them?

What do they witness?

If they could speak, what would they say?

These strong, silent witnesses give much of themselves.

They provide shade.

They provide shelter.

They provide food.

Oh, the many marvelous uses of trees!

Which we all probably take for granted.

But no longer, for on this 113th blog, SPIRIT and I will honor them.

And we shall eavesdrop on what they have to say.

Just by them being where they are when Bible events happen.

How were they created?

Who created them?

Won't you want to know that, too?

We shall let SPIRIT guide us as we go along.

Let's see what Scripture has to say.

And let's all prepare to be astounded.

I feel like I'm going on a marvelous adventure!

A born again has to be childlike.

So JESUS can take root in us.

Pun always intended.

Matthew 18:3

King James Version

3 And said,

Verily I say unto you,

Except ye be converted,

and become as little children,

ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
